Editorial Policy
This page explains who writes CalcMyCard’s content, how facts and calculators are checked, and how errors are corrected.
Who writes and maintains the site
All calculators and guides are built and written by Ali Ahmad, CalcMyCard’s founder. There is no separate editorial team or outside expert reviewer, and pages don’t claim otherwise. Each page shows who made it and when it was last updated.
Sourcing standards
Statements about credit card rules and rates are checked against primary sources: the Federal Reserve’s G.19 consumer credit data, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the text of Regulation Z, and FICO’s own published material on credit scores. Each guide and calculator lists the sources it relies on, with links and the date they were checked. When a source can’t support a claim, the claim is softened or removed.
How calculators are checked
Calculators use the formulas published on our Methodology page. Before changes go live, an automated test suite checks all 16 calculators in a real browser against hand-worked examples, and the shared formulas against an independent reference implementation, including edge cases such as 0% APR, payments that don’t cover the interest, and $0 balances or limits. The About page shows the date of the last full test run and what it found.
Language we avoid
Because our calculators produce estimates, we describe results as estimates, not “exact” figures. We say “many” or “some” issuers unless a source supports “most” or “all,” and we don’t present one issuer’s practice as a universal rule.
Independence
CalcMyCard does not accept payment from card issuers, lenders, or credit unions to influence calculator results or editorial content, and doesn’t recommend specific card products. Any advertising is served separately from the content and doesn’t affect it.
Corrections
To report an error, contact us with the page link and details. Confirmed errors are corrected promptly and the page’s “Updated” date changes. When a calculator bug is fixed, a test case for it is added to the test suite so the same bug can’t return.
Review schedule
Pages that cite rates or statistics are checked when new data is published (for example, when the Federal Reserve releases a new quarter of G.19 data) and at least once a year. The last full review of the calculation methods and cited rules was on September 25, 2026.
